Twerking is a style of sexually provocative dancing where the dancer thrusts, gyrates and jerks their hips to make their butt cheeks jiggle, bounce and collide. The dance often leads to the butt cheeks slapping together, resulting in an audible "clapping" sound, and causes the butt to jiggle.

This dance is most often performed while in a crouching pose, with the butt stuck out; but twerking can also be performed while bent over, on all fours, ass up, doing splits, or even upside down, while braced against a wall. Twerking is typically associated with dance music, strip clubs, and particularly with hip hop/rap culture, where the style originated. Twerking can also be done while performing a lapdance or as foreplay.

Tagging Notes:

Twerking is often overtagged, a character shaking their butt, or bouncing their butt is not necessarily twerking, however, an animation may show a character shaking their butt while twerking, and twerking often involves the butt bouncing.

• shaking butt - a character moving their hips side to side, and/or wiggling their butt, to taunt or seduce; while twerking can sometimes involve a character shaking their butt (as described by the shaking butt tag), shaking butt is not inherently twerking
• bouncing butt - can be a part of twerking, but isn't twerking itself

Try to only tag twerking on characters clearly in a dance context or taking up a "twerking stance", with butt cheeks that appear to be wobbling and shaking (or are implied to be doing so) in still images. Do not tag twerking on images of a character whose buttocks are merely jiggling with "twerk" added as a sound effect.
