Stitch! (スティッチ! Suticchi!, also titled Yuna & Stitch in the German dub) is a Japanese anime spinoff of the Lilo & Stitch franchise that ran from 2008 to 2011, with post-series television specials that broadcasted in 2012 and 2015. It serves as the franchise's second TV series (after Lilo & Stitch: The Series and before Stitch & Ai) and is the first spin-off series where Lilo Pelekai is removed as a main character. In this series, Stitch left Lilo and Hawaii during her college years over a misunderstanding, then years afterward he ends up on an island in Japan's Okinawa Prefecture. There he meets a local human girl named Yuna Kamihara, and she becomes his new best friend. Many experiments and alien characters from the previous Western-produced films and series return in this show, while new ones are also introduced.
Different companies produced this show. Seasons 1 and 2—the latter season subtitled ~The Mischievous Alien's Great Adventure~—were produced by anime studio Madhouse, while season 3—subtitled ~Best Friends Forever~—and the two post-series specials—known as the Stitch! New Specials—were produced by Shin-Ei Animation. The Madhouse seasons sees Yuna and Stitch living together in the fictional Izayoi Island as Stitch tries to do 43 good deeds (which can be taken away) to have his wish of becoming the "ruler of the universe" granted, though his penchant for mischief makes this difficult and the return of his enemies Dr. Hämsterviel and Gantu, the latter who has since been dismissed from the United Galactic Federation again and rehired by Hämsterviel alongside Gantu's partner Reuben. They also meet various yokai who live on the island along the way. The third season, which significantly differs from the first two seasons, has Yuna and Stitch move to a fictional Okinawan city called New Town and sees the show become a wackier slice of life comedy with Yuna meeting new classmates at her new school, while Hämsterviel partners with a tall, humanoid alien woman named Delia who has an apparent history with him and Jumba Jookiba and wants to capture Stitch to retrieve a power cell within him to make an evil experiment of her own. The two post-series specials, Stitch and the Planet of Sand and Stitch! Perfect Memory (or Stitch! A Perfect Memory), have their own self-contained plots set after the events of season three.
