tribal spellcaster

A tribal spellcaster is a special breed of spellcaster who's spells are traditionally natural, or nature themed, as opposed to the arcane flavor of a wizard's spells. Typically, a tribal spellcaster is more in tune with the earth and it's spirit, and the life of the creatures in it.

They are typically, but not always tribal, despite the name. Many times they wear loincloths, beads, and feathers. They may have small bones or skulls , a staff or spear, body paint or an animal companion of some sort.

They come in several different 'flavors':

  • Druids typically are shapechangers, and the recent success of the warcraft franchise means that many of the images of druids are of warcraft druids--cats, bears, and others.
  • Shaman typically commune more with spirits, and nature. They often will wear tribal clothing, and may have small bones and bits of nature on their person.
  • Witch doctors have a darker feel to them, as they are most likely to have bones and bodypaint, to use blood as a material component to their spells. They often use voodoo magic, and voodoo_dolls.
