An electrode is an electrical conductor used to make contact with a nonmetallic part of a circuit. While the general term applies to everything from vacuum tubes to tasers, in the context of this wiki, that "nonmetallic part of a circuit" is pretty much exclusively a character.

Electrodes often are used with and seen in content involving electrostimulation, but may also be used as a medical instrument or scientific instrument, typically implied to be measuring or stimulating some kind of nerve activity. They are commonly seen for this purpose as incidental details in mind control or brainwashing scenarios. Electrodes may be metallic probes inserted into various orifices (see also: electrode dildo) or pressed against the skin of a character (see also: violet wand), but most commonly take the form of electrode pads - wires attached to small patches stuck onto a character's skin.
