A character wearing clothing typically associated with their opposite gender.

As this tag is culture-specific, it generally is applied, as a tag, to male and female characters in specific ways. For male/masculine characters, it refers to wearing feminine clothing such as a dress, skirt, panties, high-heels and so on. Male characters who are crossdressing may use objects stuffed into their clothes to create fake breasts. For female/feminine characters, it means wearing masculine outfits such as a traditional tuxedo, a suit and pants combination, as well as traditional pieces of clothing designated for males, like boxers or boxer briefs.

Crossdressing is to be apparent in the posting by TWYS. In cases where a character is known by lore to be of different gender as their appearance (including clothing) says, the trans_woman_(lore) and trans_man_(lore) tags should be used in addition to this tag.

Not to be confused with girly - which refers to the physical build and demeanour of a male or andromorphic character rather than their outfit. However, girly characters may also crossdress.
