Kinktober is a multi-fandom prompt based challenge that encourages the creation of erotic fanworks, mostly fanfiction and fan art, that focus on specific kinks. Taking place during the month of October, it the event was inspired by similar October based art challenges such as Inktober and Goretober. The original tumblr post that first proposed the event challenge was created in September of 2016 by sparksreactor, and has since grown into an annual challenge.

Rules: Artists and Writers must create a new piece of artistic work everyday for the 31 days of October. Each day, the new art/writing piece must center around a different fetish or kink that the artist may not normally explore or use. Originally the 31 kinks for each day were as follows:

Since the original event, there have obviously been variations of the used fetishes, especially considering the divisive nature of numbers 17 and 29. The only consistent thing among the participants is the last fetish. There is also a common thing for a general theme each year for the artist in question's pieces, such as an overarching fetish, or repeated use of a certain character or franchise.
