retracted balls

Retracted balls describes an involuntary reflex where the balls pull up ("retract") towards the body or base of the penis.
This reflex is most often shown as a character is orgasming, and depicted by the skin of the scrotum pulling tight around the testicles and/or the testicles pulling up and leaving loose scrotal skin bellow the testicles. Retracted balls are often paired with throbbing balls, where the balls may be pulled up, and twitch/pulse as ejaculation occurs. Retracted balls can also be a result of emotional state (e.g. fear) or exposure to cold.
While exaggerated in artwork, this reflex actually occurs in reality, and is caused by the involuntary contraction of the cremaster muscle, which raises and lowers the testicles. As seen in pornographic art, the cremasteric reflex can occur during arousal and/or orgasm.
Not To Be Confused With
- Shrinking Balls: when balls are shrinking in size, usually quickly and beyond what is biologically possible.
- Clenching Balls: a character that has the (anatomically "incorrect") ability to voluntarily cause their scrotum/balls to squeeze/contract, visually distinct from retracted balls
- Scrotum Flap: The balls are still in their normal correct anatomical place (not retracted) and yet still have an inexplicable flap of additional skin usually associated with retracted balls
