firing squad
A method of execution in which the condemned is shot by multiple gunmen. To prevent stray gunshots, the condemned is positioned against a brick wall or some other heavy barrier, and several gunmen line up side by side several feet away. Upon hearing a cue called out by a superior, all of the shooters fire simultaneously. The condemned individual is typically blindfolded to reduce stress for both the executioners and the person to be executed, and bound to prevent escape attempts.
It is particularly common in militaries, especially during war. As such, a firing squad is normally composed of several military personnel.
