Super Sonic (スーパーソニック Sūpā Sonikku) is a recurring transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is the Super State of Sonic the Hedgehog, achieved by harnessing the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds. Since its debut, this form has been Sonic's most commonly used transformation.

When transformed into Super Sonic, Sonic's blue fur becomes golden yellow in color, his peach skin gains a slightly golden hue, and the quills on his head become upturned. Additionally, his green eyes become ruby red and his facial expression becomes more aggressive, with his eyes gaining sharpened corners. He also possesses a golden aura that varies in size and can be anything from smooth to flame-like in shape. His aura also sometimes displays either faint sparkles or electrical sparks.

As Super Sonic, Sonic can fly at speeds greatly surpassing his normal running pace. His body also becomes completely impervious to physical damage, allowing him to plow through numerous enemies with relative ease. He can also use various chaos powers, most notably Chaos Control to manipulate time and space; He can use this to teleport, slow/freeze time, or travel through time.

Super Sonic's main weakness is that he cannot transform unless he has at least 50 rings and all 7 chaos emeralds. For every second he remains Super Sonic, he looses one ring. If he looses all his rings or any emeralds, he will change back and lose a life.

Super Sonic rather notoriously resembles the Super Saiyan transformation from Dragon Ball Z. Officially Super Sonic was conceived before Super Saiyan, but was designed after it and Akira Toriyama (The Creator of Dragon Ball Z) never inquired about this to SEGA.
