When the inside of a character's mouth is depicted with a notable amount of detail, featuring intricate line art and/or complex rendering.

Most detailed mouth images are mouth shots and headshot portraits, however, not all mouth shots feature a detailed mouth, and not all posts featuring a detailed mouth are mouth shots or headshot portraits. Detailed mouths are especially common in suggestive mouth related art, in content related to oral sex, and particularly in oral vore. A detailed mouth is particularly noticeable on characters who are otherwise heavily stylized or cartoonish.

What makes a mouth detailed?

A detailed mouth will have some level of realistic anatomical features of the oral cavity that are often omitted in more stylized mouths. Tonsils, folds in the back of the throat, ridges in the roof of the mouth, creases, wrinkles, and taste buds or spines on the tongue, sometimes with species-correct oral/dental anatomy, and detailed, noticeable (even excessive) amounts of saliva are some realistic elements that define a "detailed mouth".
