Species: spinosaurus
Spinosaurus is a genus of spinosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now North Africa, approximately 100-94 million years ago. This theropod dinosaur had a unique appearance, possesing a crocodilian-like head along with a large sail on it's back, it wasn't until the discovery of it having a tadpole-like tail revealing it was likely a semi aquatic dinosaur. The Spinosaurus is one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs, rivaling the Tyrannosaurus, Giganotosaurus, and Carcharodontosaurus in size, two known species, Spinosaurus Aegypticus and Spinosaurus Maroccanus.
The Spinosaurus first became popular from the 2001 film, Jurassic Park 3 where the Spinosaurus would replace the Tyrannosaurus as the antagonist of the film. During the release of that movie the spinosaurus appeared in variety of media dedicated to dinosaurs, from children's books to toylines, the spinosaurus became one of the most infamous dinosaurs on Earth.
