The Colour Out of Space is a short science fiction/horror story written by author H.P. Lovecraft. In it, an unnamed narrator investigates "the blasted heath" west of Arkham, Massachusetts that had become deadly over after a meteorite crashed to Earth fifty years previously. In the meteorite's wake, plants grow large but inedible while animals and humans mutate grotesquely and become insane before dying.
