robotization
When a character is transformed into a robot, an android, or a full-body cyborg. Typically, this is done by a machine that replaces all of the subject's organs and bone structure with mechanical equivalents, and converts the victim's skin into a metallic chassis that houses the robot's components within. The transformation is often depicted as extremely painful.
This originated from the 1993 cartoon, Sonic the Hedgehog, in which Dr. Robotnik combines robotic transformation with mind control to force people to act as a drone army under his command. This depiction of robotization continues in the spinoff comic series of the same name.
