"Gooning" is slang for edging oneself for a long duration and becoming so hyper-focused on edging that one enters a trance-like state. For example, a "gooner" may be so focused on edging that they need to be reminded to do things like eat, hydrate, or wipe the drool off their face. In practice, the terms "gooning" and "gooner" have a nuance of fetishizing addiction to porn or masturbation. A gooner has a very hedonistic attitude, so recreational drug usage would not be out of place.

Things that would qualify for the gooning tag include:

• A character edging to porn while seemingly in a trance, as indicated by spiral_eyes, etc.
• A character edging while saying things like how they must submit to their dick or how much they "love being a porn-addicted loser"
• A character knowingly continues to edge, even when they should be doing something far more important, such as going to work
• A character edging to multiple instances of porn displayed on several monitors at once
• Text or dialogue that encourages the viewer to "goon" (See also: JOI)
