soul stealing

When a character's spirit (or "soul"), is ripped from their physical body by another. The soul is usually depicted as a stream of energy being sapped from the victim, or as a ghostly version of the character that is shown being divided from the body.
The soul may be trapped somehow (e.g. in a magic amulet, wand, or staff), used as energy for casting magic spells, or cast adrift without its body. Soul stealing may leave the victim's body dead (usually implicitly, with empty eyes, or an emaciated appearance), it may become a zombie that obeys the soul stealer's commands, or it may be destroyed or consumed.
Soul stealing is often associated with succubus characters, who steal souls during or after sex.
Soul Stealing is often seen before...
- possession, where a spirit, demon, ghost, etc, removes the character's soul from their physical body, and takes over the body
- forced transformation, removing the soul causes physical transformation to the victim's body, possibly into an object or unthinking creature
- soul vore, when the soul is removed, and then consumed by another
- soul stealing can also happen in vore without the soul being consumed (e.g. the physical body is consumed, and the soul is removed for other purposes, while the body is digested)
