Lumalee is a large cyan Hungry Luma that first appeared in Super Mario Galaxy. Often appearing before bosses, Lumalee acts as a sort of shop, giving Mario or Luigi the choice of a 1-Up Mushroom or a Super Mushroom in exchange for Star Bits. After being fed the required amount, Lumalee will transform into the requested item.

A Lumalee also appears in The Super Mario Bros. Movie as a prisoner in Bowser's castle. Lumalee's personality has been twisted due to his imprisonment; he is depicted as nihilistic and rants about the futility of his situation, claiming the only hope for himself and Bowser's other prisoners is "the sweet relief of death".
