A skyline primarily refers to objects appearing from above, or in front of a horizon. This term is commonly associated with cities due to skyscrapers that are still visible from beyond the horizon. However, this term may apply to any manmade, or natural structure near the horizon including landmasses.

Sometimes this term is interpreted more loosely to refer to the region where the sky meets some element obstructing the background that isn't the horizon.
