Species: mentali
Mentali are an open species created by DomanDragon. Originating from the hybrid of an aquatic dragon and a wind elemental in cheetah form, their feline and dragon traits have blended over generations to create an entirely new subspecies. These traits vary between individuals - they may have horns, wings, or head fins, as well as pointed ears, cat-like markings such as tabby stripes, or whiskers. The only common thread between them is a draconic snout, fangs (even if not always visible), retractable claws, and traditionally mammalian features like fur and breasts. Mentali with horns may have fur that grows longer near said horns - some choose to cut the fur to reveal their horns while others leave it as-is, treating it as part of their hairstyle, so this isn't always a valid way to tell whether a character's species is a Mentali or just a furred dragon in general.
Mentali come in up to 11 different elemental types depending on personality or upbringing - they develop one or two when young, and an extra sub-element is possible for an adult. These include Aqua (water), Blazing (fire), Blitz (electricity/electronics), Eco (plants/healing), Aether (wind/air), Terra (earth), Frost (ice), Lux (light/illusion), Phonos (sound/vibration/music), Veno (poison/purification), and Shade (darkness/shadow). These elements decide what magic they're best at, their biological traits (such as fur texture, body temperature, energy, and even changes as extreme as Lux's bioluminescence or Aqua's webbed digits) and their inherent biological abilities, though a sub-element will not have the same biological traits as a full element. It also determines the function of the magulus, an organ exclusive to Mentali - it acts as a flame generator for Blazing, an underwater breathing structure for Aqua, etc. A deficiency can occur in a Mentali's element, to the point where they might never learn that element's magic, but these Cerebra-type (or C-type for short) elements can gain unique psychic powers.
Hybrids may take varying traits from either parent, to the point where they may even look like full Mentali or even their non-Mentali parent's species. The tag_what_you_see principle applies here - characters like kayla_(lutnut215) should be tagged as just Mentali and not cattle, for example.
