A cordless phone is a type of landline phone that has a wireless handset which connects to a hardwired "base station" through radio signals. Unlike a cellphone, cordless phones can only be used within a limited range from their base station, typically within the same building. Cordless phones are very common modern home phones.

While they could be confused for cellphones, they are far chunkier than any smartphone and larger than pocket-sized bar cellphones, but are also smaller and feature more streamlined designs than 1980s "brick" cellphones. Cordless phones are typically seen specifically in the context of a character's home, or in an office setting. Cordless phone handsets are often drawn with antennas, and may feature a keypad and small LCD display, alternatively, they can simply resemble a typical landline telephone handset, without the cord.
