The hyrax/hyraxi are a hyena-like race from Trials in Tainted Space home to the planet Phaedra II. In the ruined environs of their post-apocalyptic planet, these gnoll-like natives congregate in nomadic tribes, jockeying for prestige through feats of daring and obedience to their taller, more powerful female matriarchs. When they're not setting their big ole paws to the task of vehicle maintenance, they're tearing across the desert plains in motorcycles or ramshackle cars, pillaging and raiding the more stable settlements of the other races on the planet.
