Iridescence is a colorful shimmering effect that causes something to appear to change color as the angle of view/lighting changes. Iridescence is most commonly associated with soap bubbles, feathers and scales, butterfly wings, opal, and seashells.
This effect is sometimes also referred to as "holographic", due to the use of holographic foil to replicate it in clothing and accessories.
