Character: bmo
"Who wants to play Video Games?"
BMO is a major recurring character in the animated series Adventure Time with Finn & Jake. BMO is MO is a living prototype video game console system, portable electrical outlet, computer, music player, VCR, video player, video editor, roommate, camera, alarm clock, toaster, flashlight, strobe light, skateboarder, soccer player, tape player, chef, detective. and friend who is owned primarily by Finn and Jake.
BMO looks like a Macintosh computer with Game Boy Color buttons and Atari 2600 controllers. He also shares some traits with a Vectrex. BMO is a medium-sized teal/blue-green gaming device, sometimes appearing with one or two controllers attached to them. When not being played, they have an 8-bit face. BMO's front includes an arrow pad, a floppy disk slot, multiple different shape buttons, two controller sockets, and of course the face, or screen. There is also a compartment with a red button hidden underneath the yellow D-pad. Inside BMO, there is a gold heart with a face, as shown in. Pinned to the heart is a golden medal. Next to the heart is a small scroll tied with a red ribbon.
BMO was created by genius inventor and computer programmer Moeseph "Moe" Mastro Giovanni Senior to be a personal companion for his son on Christmas. Unfortunately, he never winded up meeting any women and sent BMO into the world to find some other little boy to take care of. BMO is the second oldest of the MO Co. Line of computers and robots with the oldest being AMO. According to Moe, BMO was created to understand fun, to play, and to give love. But above all else BMO was designed to "Be More". Upon discovering this BMO began calling themselves Moe Mastro "Llabtoof" Giovanni Jr.
BMO has no external sex to speak of and as a result is generally considered to be genderless. This is most evidenent in "Fionna & Cake" where everyone is a crossgendered version of themselves, BMO is more or less exactly the same in terms of appearance, name, and personality. BMO is also generally not considered a living creature as at by the end of the series he became the King of Ooo over 1000 years in the future and winded up outliving nearly every character from the series except Sweet Pig Trunks and The Ice Thing and was the only sentient being left after The Lich wished for the extinction of all life. Despite this BMO wishes more than anything to be a real living person. This is most evident by their imaginary friend "Football" (who is in actuality BMO's Reflection) who he taught to be a real boy with the ability to love, laugh, cry and drink/eat food.
BMO is inconsistently referred to by masculine, feminine, or gender neutral pronouns throughout the series and by the creators and fandom.
BMO is voiced by Nikki Yang who also is the voice of Lady Rainicorn.
