Escape From Tarkov is a first person, tactical, hardcore shooter created by Nikita Buyanov, a Russian game dev and game studio owner. Escape From Tarkov follows the basic gameplay loop of first creating a loadout of body armor, tactical rigs, highly modifiable weapons, and backpacks to prepare for raids, online game instances where several players are spawned on a premade map to loot items, fight AI opponents and other players, and to complete quests given by NPC traders. The catch is that if a player dies, all items on there person are lost and can be looted by other players.
Escape From Tarkov is a popular game in the hardcore shooter genre, however, mismanagement of development priorities resulting in many bugs and glitches, especially concerning net code creating desync between players, result in immense frustration because of the permanent lost of equipment that represents effort and time invested into the game. There is also a major cheating problem. There is a massive cheating and Real Money Trading issue involved in Tarkov, causing further frustration to players.
Battlestate Games, the developers of Tarkov, have done little to fix these problems, both by insulting players voicing concerns over them, and making no steps to stem these issues, opting to release predatory and overpriced paid content rather then improving anti cheat or net code.
Overall, Escape From Tarkov is an alright game on paper, but in execution is not great, don’t waste your money.
