"Belly" is used to refer to a visually prominent abdominal area on a character — a rounded, bloated, chubby, or otherwise enlarged/fat belly.

Tagging Notes
  • This tag most commonly applies to characters who are slightly chubby or overweight, carrying excess belly fat, this tag also applies to pregnant, bloated, or inflated characters.
  • This tag applies regardless of whether the character is clothed or unclothed.
  • Belly should not be confused with stomach — the stomach tag specifically refers to the internal organ
  • Characters with flat or toned midsections should not have the belly tag applied — if their midsection is exposed while fully clothed, use midriff

Belly Size

The above scales more or less depict the four "levels" of belly size on e621 (however, the terminology used in them should be ignored)

belly

(first stage in image one)

    • when used for size, this tag describes any noticeably protruding belly that is generally smaller than a pregnant belly at last months of pregnancy
    • often seen with slightly chubby, or mildly overweight characters, as well as cases of very light stuffing and bloating
big belly

(second stage of both images)

    • A character with an entirely realistically large prominent belly
    • Most often seen with characters who are bloated, pregnant, or overweight
huge belly

(stage three in both images)

    • Most often seen in vore, and often with characters who are obese or hyper pregnant
    • A belly that ranges from extreme, but at the upper end of realism, to beyond strict realism, but "physically believable"
    • Generally, this belly size can be roughly equal to the size of the character with the belly, if they were to squeeze into a fetal position
hyper belly

(stage four in both images)

    • Seen with morbid obesity, most hyper pregnancy, and multiple prey vore
    • Belly may touch the ground while the character is standing, may be several times larger than the character themselves, and may be large enough to entirely immobilize the character with the belly
