dual wielding
Also called "Akimbo style" when referring to the use of guns, dual wielding is a stance in which a combatant carries one weapon in each hand. A popular depiction is of cowboys or bandits with dual revolvers.
Historically, this tactic was not used often; though gunfighters in America's west did occasionally carry a revolver in each hand, the intention was to use the other weapon after the first was emptied to avoid having to reload in a fight, not to aim and fire both at once.
Does not only refer to the use of ranged weapons; it may also refer to the simultaneous use of two knives, for instance, or even the use of a knife in one hand and a gun in the other. As long as the character has each hand on a different weapon, it's dual wielding.
Don't try it at home.
