This tag is used when a character has a tough, dome-like, natural shield either around their torso or covering their back.

A shell (or a carapace) is a dorsal section of the exoskeleton of various animals, like turtles for example.

Where it covers the torso of the character, the character is typically able to retract its head and limbs into it for further protection, or remove it completely.
