The fact that someone couches their call to action to literally murder you in the language of rhetoric does not change that it is a call to action to literally murder you.
Even if he directly threatened you personally (which he didn't, by the way), you still don't get to hit him. You can call the police, or you can walk (or run) away from the situation, but you do NOT get to assault him over it. No matter how much you try to justify it, if you hit him, YOU are a criminal, not him.
