About it being tag bloat, we should probably question the creator @Fluffball about it since they are the one who initiated the body_part_in_* tags.

About this being aliased to vaginal_penetration, it will be a big no from me.
The wiki specifically mentions that although body_part_in_pussy is mostly a form of vaginal_penetration, it can also include non-penetration tags as well like fingering, etc.
I'd be wary about this direct alias to vaginal_penetration, if anything, it should be invalidated instead.

What about aliasing to vaginal to avoid the fingering issue?

Not according to our implication trees. Nowhere in the tree does vaginal fingering implicate penetration.

None of the fingering tags do. The idea behind that is probably toying with whatever orifice without actually crossing the threshold into penetration. Pushing up against an anus without actually entering for example. Whether that distinction is useful I'd say is up in the air

Yeah that makes sense, what doesn't make sense is that *_penetration isn't allowed to be tagged alongside *_fingering. This has been a long-standing issue: penetration, topic #20042, topic #32887, topic #40511, etc.

Personally, I can't see why we can't just handle it the same way we do fellatio, sometimes it involves penetration sometimes it doesn't.

although that doesn't necessarily mean that all cases of fingering are non-penetrative.

well, the discussion was about not aliasing body_part_in_* to *_penetration because fingering exists. but fingering not implying penetration dosn't proclude it from being penetration.

I had enough pushback trying to get fisting implied to penetration, which was just absurd that it never was. True fingering is definitely penetration too, but it does have enough problems that we're probably never going to get an implication there. We even have clitoral_fingering despite the fact you can't penetrate a clitoris.

I think body_part_in_x is perfectly fine to imply penetration though. The tag name includes the word in, which would automatically disqualify the types of fingering that don't actually include penetration.
