Topic: [APPROVED] Disambiguating "Monroe"

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #9445 is active.

create alias monroe (0) -> monroe_(disambiguation) (0)
create alias monroe_(character) (0) -> monroe_(disambiguation) (0)
create alias monroe_(oc) (0) -> monroe_(disambiguation) (0)
change category monroe_(disambiguation) (0) -> invalid

Reason: This BUR aims to disambiguate the character tag Monroe by mirroring the approach used in topic #45079, which I found to be quite sensible.

Not only are there multiple characters named Monroe, but an ambiguous Monroe tag could even be referring to a Monroe piercing.

Because Monroe is a low-frequency tag, it is currently manageable to clean it up by hand every so often. But each time I've cleaned up the tag, I've found a mish-mash of different characters tagged Monroe, suggesting that the tag should just be disambiguated and made invalid to facilitate further occasional clean-up.

The aliases for monroe_(character) and monroe_(oc) are intended to prevent ambiguous character tags from being created in response to the invalidation of the monroe tag. Given the 39 unique character tags containing the string "monroe" at the time of writing, there are already plenty of Monroe-characters and Monroe-OCs, making such tag names unacceptably ambiguous.

Edit: topic #45391 previously cleaned up all the monroe_(character) tagged images, via a mass update. This shows the need to invalidate it and monroe_(oc) as well.

EDIT: The bulk update request #9445 (forum #421667) has been approved by @spe.
