A male malamute and the main antagonist of the animated movie Balto.

He was the leader of the best dog racing team in Nome, and was popular to both dogs and humans alike. He had a crush on the husky Jenna and antagonized the main protagonist Balto (along with members of his team Kaltag, Nikki and Star).

When his master was assigned to bring medicine to the town, he and his team became lost in a blizzard and his master unconscious. When Balto arrived to assist them, Steele angrily refused his aid and attacked him. The resulting brawl ended with Steele falling off a cliff, though he survived and returned to Nome (though not before sabotaging Balto's markers out of spite).

When he returned, he told lies about Balto to the dogs of Nome. But when Balto and the sled team returned with the medicine, his admirers quickly abandoned him due to being disgusted over his lies. Ironically, Balto became a hero whilst Steel became the outcast. He has not been seen since.
