Playable character from the first person action shooter Overwatch created by Blizzard Entertainment. He is voiced by Gaku Space.

Genji is an offense oriented hero with abilities that are focused on quick maneuvering and powerful melee attacks. Genji was born into the Shimada Ninja Clan and a life of privilege and luxury that it afforded. He had little interest in his family's illegal business and dedicated himself fully to the Ninjitsu arts of the clan's teachings. Following the death of the clan's leader, Genji's older brother, Hanzo, insisted he take a more active role in the Clan's business. When Genji refused to participate in their criminal dealings tensions rose, leading to a confrontation between the brothers that left Genji severely wounded and near death.
Hanzo believed he had killed his brother, but in actuality Genji was rescued by agents of Overwatch and with the aid of Dr. Angela Ziegler he was given a cybernetic body suited to his tremendous skills as a ninja. After his transformation Genji relentlessly attacked his former clans holdings with the aim of toppling their criminal empire once and for all. However despite his new abilities Genji was at odds with himself, unable to reconcile his cybernetic nature and repulsed by his own inhuman body. After completing his mission he abandoned Overwatch to search for meaning and peace in the world and eventually came upon the omnic monk Zenyatta. At first Genji rejected his teachings and scoffed at the monk's notions of tranquility and inner peace. However Zenyatta did not relent and eventually Genji came to understand his teachings with broader insight, realizing that despite the cybernetic nature of his body, inside his soul was still human.

Personality
Before becoming a cyborg Genji was a carefree youth fond of his playboy lifestyle and content with enjoying life free of responsibility. Afterwards however he adopted a more somber tone, valuing duty and idealism in his everyday life. Despite the falling out he had with his brother he still believes there is hope that Hanzo can change his wicked ways and become a better man. Zenyatta's teachings have also imprinted a serene wisdom on Genji and given him a deep level of compassion and mercy that had not existed before.
