The Great Mouse Detective is a 1986 animated Disney film, based on the children's book series Basil of Baker Street.The film is centered on the titular mouse detective, Basil, who attempts to thwart a diabolical plot masterminded by his arch-nemesis, Professor Ratigan. Aiding Basil in his investigation are David Q. Dawson, a surgeon, and the child mouse Olivia Flaversham, whose father's kidnapping kick starts the plot.The film and the book series is notable for being a homage of Sherlock Holmes, being re-imagined in a mouse world. For instance, Basil and Dawson are based on Sherlock and Watson, whilst Ratigan is based on Sherlock's arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty.External Links:
