bustier

A bustier is a form-fitting garment for women traditionally worn as lingerie. Its primary purpose is to emphasize cleavage by compressing the breasts up and inwards, while gently shaping the waist.
Often confused with a corset; the primary difference is that a bustier always supports the breasts directly and often has distinctly molded cups similar to a bra for this purpose, while a corset is primarily designed to slim the waist and overall figure and may not cover the breasts at all.
A bustier never has shoulder straps, but can have Garter Straps. It must also extend somewhat below the bust line - a garment which supports the breasts but not the waist is likely a strapless bra.
