ottoman
An ottoman is a type of upholstered footstool that typically contains an internal storage compartment. Larger models may double as a couch which usually has a head but no back, though sometimes it has neither. It may have square or semicircular ends, and as a rule it is what upholsterers call “stuffed over” — that is to say no wood is visible.
Ottomans are usually bigger than other footstools, but may appear visually similar to hassocks. The main differences between the two are size, and a hassock does not have space for a storage compartment.
Please do not tag this as a couch. An ottoman is a distinct concept from a couch / sofa.
