Detective Pikachu is a male Pikachu that stars in the video game of the same name, as well as its live-action/CGI film adaptation. He wears a deerstalker hat, carries a magnifying glass, loves coffee, and can talk (at least to one human, Tim Goodman).

There are differences between the character's appearances between the two works, as seen in the thumbnail above. The game's version of him on the left looks like any other typical Pikachu as normally seen in the games, animation, and artwork. However, the film's version on the right adds several changes. Besides being a rather realistically rendered CG character, the movie version has fluffy fur, visible white sclera (not depicted in the thumbnail), a clearly defined philtrum, and a white underbelly, the last of which is based on depictions of the Pokémon in early Generation I concept art.
