Species: fossa
The fossa is a cat-like carnivorous mammal native to the island of Madagascar, and is the largest land carnivore on the island. It is a member of Eupleridae, a family of carnivores related to mongeese. Its notorious for the debate surrounding its classification, as its physically resembles felines, yet it shares many qualities and traits with viverrids (civets).
They are very similar to felines in appearance, often resembling small cougars, and have long slender bodies and necks.
