A sparkledog is a brightly & unnaturally colored canid character, typically multicolored, though not always. Despite the name, this term can refer to any canid species.

NOTE: Just being unnaturally colored is not enough to qualify as a sparkledog.

Common traits of sparkledogs include excessive accessories, bizarre anatomy, and over the top hairstyles. They are commonly associated with fashion subcultures such as scene, ravers and cybergoth.

Originally a derogatory term due to the infamy of these colorful characters, the term has since become a neutral descriptor for these types of characters.

In recent years, they are much less infamous and are instead largely looked upon fondly, either due to nostalgia, or just because one finds the colorful aesthetic appealing.
