History: Tambora grew up near the edge of 'Evergreens', the taiga biome of Enthos, and Permafrost. While normally most ratteguhn groups prefer to keep to their own ethnic group, his early exposure to tundra ratteguhns made him curious about the world at large, starting just north of what he considered home. In his teenage years he grew to befriend Erige, a tundra ratteguhn originally from the northern part of Permafrost, whose family group had moved further south and settled near the same border. They both developed feelings for each other with time, though such a thing was usually quite frowned upon. Trying to keep it a secret only ended in inevitable failure, though after a while they simply disregarded the opinions of others. When the both of them came to be of age, they lived together in a small den right on the fringe of both biomes.

Erige had been bestowed the power of Guardian in her late teenage years. Despite the realities of this gift (guardians do not age past prime adulthood unless they were already that age when given the gift) both she and Tambora still chose to stick together. When the War started to reach its peak, Erige was called to where it was taking place due to a detected imbalance of the world's energy stemming from that location. Tambora chose to follow Erige to Ash Lake in central Faradus. They reached the battleground when the others did, just as Tokoyami had begun to take form, and the guardians delved into the thick of the massive grey zone to attempt to stop the inevitable. Unfortunately, during the fight, Erige was overpowered and perished trying to stop an attack from hitting one of the other guardians who could not get away in time.

Upon Erige's death, the Force of fire offered Tambora the role of the Guardian of fire. Perhaps out of a need of some kind of retribution or grief, he took the role willingly and quickly fled the battleground with the soul of Kasai, unable to look back. Tambora had an aching feeling that, somehow, it was not yet over. He went back to the taiga of Enthos, refusing to go to where he once called home, and lived in a somber isolation until the time came when Kasai would point the way to her desired host. Before leaving for Faradus again, he sought Andromeda to the west and offered him the role of Keeper, as after years of being alone Andromeda and his family were the only friends Tambora had. After Andromeda accepted the offer Tambora was off for Faradus to find Beyle, and living within and helping to raise Beyle helped give him a chance to, in a way, have a child-- something he and Erige wanted when when they would have returned to Enthos together.
