Character: ankha (animal crossing)

Ankha (ナイル, Nairu, Nile) is a snooty feline villager from the Animal Crossing video game series.
The character's appearance, including pallet, costumes, and design elements are heavily drawn from Ancient Egyptian art, mythology, and culture. "Ankha", her English name - references the Egyptian symbol for life, called an ankh, her name is potentially a double reference, as a play on the name of the well-known pharaoh Tutankhamun. The character's Japanese name is "Nile," which is an obvious reference to the river in Egypt that was central to Ancient Egyptian civilization, while her German-localized name 'Kleo' alludes to the famous queen of Egypt Cleopatra.
Despite merely being a villager, rather than a special character (e.g. Isabelle or Tom Nook), Ankha is extremely popular in Animal Crossing fan art (placing second in number of posts among all Animal Crossing characters), possibly due to her design and popular tsundere/himedere fan interpretation of her personality.
