A piece of headgear used to lead or tie up a horse or other animal. Here it is mostly used in bondage acts. If the halter has a bit gag going across the mouth, also tag bridle.

Do not confuse halter with a muzzle_(object). A halter includes a strap going behind the head. Thereby it is less likely to come off if the haltered is being pulled forwards while they are pulling backward. Also, a halter is not specifically intended to keep the mouth closed, unlike the muzzle.

Also not to be confused with a halter top, which is a piece of topwear that leaves most of the upper back naked while being held up in front by something going around the neck.
