bow (feature)
A bow is a feature of a ribbon, or twine (string, rope) characterized by two loops, or flared ends fastened together by a knot, or in some instances clamped together with glue.
Tagging notes
- These bows are attached to, or designed to attach to characters, clothing, or other objects.
- Not all bows are real, or constructed from actual ribbon.
- Not all bows are in the main scene. Some will be part of a print instead.
- The term bow tends to loosely apply whether the ends are loops, or flared. Some concepts that just appear tied, especially for concepts like wearing a kerchief, shouldn't be considered a bow.
- Anatomy bows should be introduced into this tag in the future. The concept is comparably relevant to wearable bows, and makes tagging easier.
Bow terms
These definitions can be used to make design based categories in the future.
- Butterfly Bow: A bow with flared ends, and no tails.
- Loop Bow: A bow with at least two loops. Some bows don't have any loops, and a gift bow can have more than two.
- Sailor Bow: A bow with its tails underneath the loops, or the flared ends / loops are longer on the bottom than at the top.
- Twin Bows: Bows located in the same relative location on hair, body parts, or clothing.

A bow that is adorned to a character's skin, fur, hair for the purpose of improving a character's appearance.

A bow that is attached to an article of clothing, or is perceived as part of an outfit.

Decorations
A bow that is attached to a prop such as a gift, or integrated with the background in some kind of creative way.

Bondage
A bow that is associated with ribbon bondage. These probably shouldn't be treated as accessories.
