A character speaking aloud to themselves.

Not to be confused with inner monologue, which refers to a character's thoughts being shown, not verbally expressed.

Self-Talk Tags

• asking self - "what am I doing?"
• describing self - "I'm so fat"
• admiring self - "I'm looking good today!"
• self praise - "I'm a good boy!"
• encouragement - "I can do this!"

These tags, and other dialogue themes, are often combined, for example a character might praise themselves while describing something about themselves, and ask themselves a question, all within the same piece of dialogue.
