New Moomin (新ムーミン, Shin Mūmin) is the second of three anime series based on Tove Jansson's Moomin books. It is a remake of the first Moomin anime, aired from 1969 to 1970

Like its predecessor series, it was produced without the involvement of Tove Jansson, who did not approve of its production; on her request, the series was broadcasted exclusively in Japan and Taiwan and has never been released elsewhere. It is more faithful to the Moomin books than the 1969 series, but takes certain liberties with character designs that are not reflected in future official media (e.g. Snufkin wearing a yellow shirt and orange hat instead of his official green shirt and hat).

New Moomin would be followed in 1990 by another anime simply titled Moomin, produced with Tove Jansson's involvement and broadcasted worldwide.
