Mowgli is the protagonist of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book. He first appeared in the short story In the Rukh in the collection Many Inventions.

He is a Feral Indian boy from the Pench area in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, India. He was raised by the wolves Raksha and Rama and taught the Law of the Jungle by Baloo the bear, Bagheera the black panther, and Kaa the rock python; and the Seeonee Wolf Pack lead by Akela as well as how to talk to animals and act like a wolf.

His archenemy is Shere Khan a ferocious and arrogant Bengal Tiger.

Mowgli appears in Rudyard Kiplings Short stories than any other character and is the protagonist of numerous adaptations over the decades.
