Race of people from LEGO's Bionicle theme. They are biomechanical humanoid who possess elemental attributes. They are the most populace species of the Matoran Universe, hence its name. They are same size as Turaga, and shorter than Toa, and can evolve into the later. Toa and Turaga can both be considered Matoran sub-races.
