Chujin was hoping the Kingdom would adopt the Axis series as a soldier force. Unfortunately, it took numerous models to refine Axis, and one failed prototype burned King Asgore's flowerbed, causing him to be fired from the Steamworks. Cut off from official funding, Chujin continued the Axis project in secret.

Axis was first deployed in combat when Chujin's daughter was threatened by a human attack in Snowdin. The most recent model, Axis 014, was used to pacify this human. Unfortunately, instead of apprehending her, as Chujin had wanted, an apparent malfunction caused it to blow her head off, much to Chujin's surprise and horror (Given Axis' personality, this may not have been a 'malfunction' at all). After this, Axis was hidden at the Steamworks building, which by then was long abandoned.
