Sparklefur is a genre of furry artwork that primarily focuses on character designs using extremely saturated and unnatural colors, often multiple, as well as accessories and complex markings.
It evolved from the initially derogatory term "sparkledog", which was used to refer to young furries' tendency to make brightly colored, often clashing or gaudy-looking, canid characters. Over time, the concept has broadened and the term has evolved into an affectionate term used mainly by enthusiasts with an interest in these types of characters.
Despite the name, this tag can be applied to characters of all species and forms, so long as they do not fall under not furry. As such, this term includes scalies and birds, as well as taurs and animal humanoids.
