The third entry of the Super Mario Bros. franchise. The game includes new mechanics that build on the previous two entries such as a "P-meter" that rewards players that want to speed through levels and new power-ups that let the players interact with the levels in new ways. Some of the power-ups in Mario 3 have only been referenced in later titles or replaced with something else such at the penguin suit in New Super Mario Bros. Wii that has some elements of the frog suit, but also has its own unique gimmick.
