Pinocchio is a 1940 American 2D animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the Italian children's novel The Adventures of Pinocchio (1883) by Carlo Collodi, being perhaps the most famous adaptation of the story.
The second feature-length animated film by Disney, it tells the story about a wooden puppet made by an old woodcarver. The puppet is brought to life by a blue fairy, who tells him that he can become a real human boy if he proves himself to be "brave, truthful, and unselfish". As he tries to prove that he could become a real boy, the puppet meets a number of devious characters who take advantage of him.
