I leave looking at the blips for like 6 years and come back to this shitshow. Is it always this exciting

You know, as a newbie I thought this place was like Twitter but without all the constant fights and stuff. But I guess I just jumped in when the conflicts weren't really showing.

And the reason I'm on blips and not Twitter was because I'm scared of people arguing. Even now I only use Twitter to occasionally post images and never read anything ever.

Eh, I guess I still have one more source of entertainment where I search for my own comments and laugh at my stupid jokes. Gets me every time.

@peacethroughpower: if it’s bad, maybe you should do little bits to help fix it? Unless yknow, you think it’s Joever and that contributing to keyboard do-nothing-isms is more your thing. by all means continue.

And the states do actually enjoy rights that are not guaranteed in other places of the world

I do try to improve things. I'm registered to vote, for instance. And yes, the US is better than a lot of countries, but that doesn't somehow make them immune from criticism. Again, that's just whataboutism.

That's just whataboutism. Someone somewhere is always going to have that worse. Someone with cancer who will die in three days doesn't have it as bad as someone with cancer and AIDS who will die in one day. That doesn't mean the first person has no right to complain, because then it's all down to omly one ever person allowed to complain. It's the ultimate pissing context.

I am an atheist. I don't believe in Satan as a literal figure, more an allegory for striving for freedom. It's also a great culture jamming technique to repurpose imagery foisted upon you by oppressors. (I should also note that I do believe in religious freedom, but not freedom from criticism or the freedom to oppress others.)

This country sucks. What is there to celebrate? I hate how I walk down the street and there's like six flags flying, as though someone would forget where they currently are and would need to figure it out. So much gross nationalism.

Hail Satan.

Heh! America, amiright? 🍻

As someone who now lives in Puerto Rico where everything is shit, I have to disagree. People really have to learn to have humility and be thankful for the rights you have. Be thankful that your weird somewhat atheistic satanic "religion" doesn't get fucked by the government (As it would in most places)

G-d IS good, hail Mary.

O, gone by the days when there were less altercations in the Blips. The days when Mulcens still sometimes put out randomly generated bouts, and random passersby stumble upon this page announcing their first time here only to never be seen again. Or so says the newbie.

I suck at prose. I think I'll just stick to puns.

Welp, got a neutral for not reading the rules again.

And to the mods, i wasnt trying to be disruptive but i get your decision.

You can always grab a ukulele and play a song about how actually, you're the victim in all this and people are just harassing you because they're haters.

so much for leaving huh

Well I have luggage. I am getting it to the wagon. =).

Now that I have the opportunity, I owe you an apology, @Ratte. You see, the theme about "Books" and your writing... your story. I wanted to read it - it looked to me good - but I didn't have the time to start. Then it became a kind of procrastinated thing... but I had the intention to read it. I really do not find time to do everything I like to do. So, my apology for the good conversations we never had, and I felt we should had...

=(.

Now. What do you think.

What is yalls opion on this

For me, im kinda split on it
On one hand its bad for people who wanna abuse the system (so thats positive)

But its also become impossible for people who like REALLY feel like a woman( or have been born in a wrong body) to pursue becoming accepted as a female (so thats negative)

So, what do you guys think?

(Please keep this a civil conversation :3)

They are accusing you of spreding Propaganda in favor of "Trans Genocide", what do you have to say in your defense, ugly Nazi...

xD

Reported Blip Blip by somethingedgey
Reason
JAQing off and spreading someone who has called for a trans genocide

I thought there was an old pic of like, a "living machine" cat made out of the CAT branded construction equipment. I tried looking for it but can't seem to find it. Was it deleted? A shame, I loved that art.

(continue...)

But its also become impossible for people who like REALLY feel like a woman (or have been born in a wrong body) to pursue becoming accepted as a female (so thats negative)

If the subject is really urged to be changed apperance and recognition, he/she may try to be recognized as a female / male. The ones willing to accept it on freewill, is their choosing. It only becomes ugly, when some activists want to FORCE the opinion of the sane majority, with coercion and blackmail, or say that complete strangers suffer or even suicide just because they studied Biology in highschool.

I think the video refers to legislations that are being passed one after another throughout the USA and Europe, nowadays.

It was a long shot anyway... don't you agree? Please give me feedback on this last question.

;-).

Regards.

Saw the video...

I don't understand how in this case applies that of "abusing the system".... I know of cases of people that simulate accidents and pain to be taken to the hospital and be injected strong analgesics....

But its also become impossible for people who like REALLY feel like a woman (or have been born in a wrong body) to pursue becoming accepted as a female (so thats negative)

So, what do you guys think?

Could someone be born in the "wrong body" =( ... or is that they developed extravagant and unreal IDEAS during rearing?

But if someone "feels" like he is a female, being a male... or "feels" she is a male, being a female... it could do what best suits to it.

Internet speeds are improving everywhere all the time.

Is latency improving at a comparable rate? Raw bandwidth will continue to improve, probably. But for a consistent experience you need lower latency. Easiest way to get lower latency over a variety of connections is to just serve less data.

I'd also point out that larger screens just keep getting cheaper and cheaper. It was 1080p, then 1440p, then 4K.

Sure. We'll eventually get there, but the pressure on video will presumably continue proportionately, so any image encoding developed will probably be a video codec spinoff like WebP is.

Basically I just don't see any possible scenario in which the average user will be sufficiently inconvenienced to lead to the kind of modernization you'd like. You need a lot more THIS JUST ISN'T PRACTICAL AND I'M NOT GONNA PUT UP WITH IT happening.

Internet speeds are improving everywhere all the time. It's less and less of a factor, though that might just be the fact that I'm a privileged Westerner speaking. Even so, I have read a bit about technologies like JPEG 2000, which can apparently losslessly convert from JPG and get like a 40% size decrease. I just wonder why something like that hasn't happened already, given how audio and video technology has developed.

I'm just a dork when it comes to compression so this sort of thing interests me. I'd like to see some developments in an area that's remained rather stagnant.

My understanding was that PNG is FLAC and JPG is MP3. We've seen so many advancements in both audio and video codecs (e.g. Opus and H.264 and H.265, as well as upcoming ones like VP1) yet images, which are simpler than everything aforementioned, is still the same old, same old. Very ironic. In 2023, we still use uncompressed .gifs.

Given how storage is dirt cheap and grows cheaper seemingly every week, I do wonder if we should just move to lossless for everything.

Size is still important for web sites to get consistently good load times.

For the individual, storage getting cheaper means there is no significant demand for better image formats, so whatever better formats there are, why bother adopting them?

A drastic increase in display resolution is the only thing that comes to mind which would create that demand.

I've owned at least two pairs of Sennheiser HD 25s in the past and they both broke prematurely, which is disappointing considering how much they cost.

Haven't tried those ones. I should say that the 598s lasted like six or seven years and could probably be fixed by someone with a little more electrical knowledge than me.

Once you go high-end there's no going back. I had the entire audio system in my car upgraded a while ago and ever since then every other car I ride in the stereo sounds like shit in comparison.

I have a FiiO USB amp and Sennheiser HD559s. (I ordered used HD599s and guess what arrived. They were meant to replace an ancient pair of 598s that broke.) High quality audio rules.
